Worker-to-Worker Exchanges

The SJF has been mandated to develop worker-to-worker exchanges in collaboration with Unions affiliated with the PSI (Public Services International) and UNI (Union Network International), and particularly those in the Americas.

Worker to worker exchanges are a powerful educational tool that:

• develop solidarity between workers in the North and South;
• strengthen the work of the SJF on labour rights and equity;
• develop a stronger union base against privatization and corporate globalization; and
• link the aspirations of specific sectors of workers in common struggles.

• Defending Public Services: Front lines Public Sector Workers from Canada visit Colombia
  
  Two return visits to Colombia as part of the Worker-to-Worker exchange co-developed and funded with CUPW and CUPE on defending quality public services in Colombia and Canada.

• Maria Eva Villate, Colombian Labour Leader visits Canada
  
  Maria Eva Villate, Colombian Union leader from the People's Defender's Office traveled to the Northwest Territory, Montreal and Ottawa to speak about privatization in Colombia, labour repression and shared strategies.

  The Frontlines tour held May 6-21, 2004, was sponsored by the PSAC, CUPW, CUPE and the CLC.
