The fans across the country were energized and the shows received great reviews. In Ottawa, over 1,131 individuals endorsed the MPH campaign and many fans wore the symbolic MPH White Band. The MPH campaign launched in 2005, has received support from over ½ million people nation wide. Make Poverty History is part of a global call to action against poverty. National campaigns are currently active in over 80 countries. The campaign is supported by a unique cross-section of groups, including trade unions, the Assembly of First nations, faith-based groups and non-governmental organizations. The campaign is calling on the Canadian government to make good on their promises: Deliver more and better aid, make trade fair, cancel the debt of the world’s poorest countries and to end child poverty in Canada.
